Striving for a healthier world

Siân Barlow Nutritional Therapist & Health Coach

Hi - I’m Sian and I love the power of food.

For many years I ate what I wanted, or what I thought I should, according to the latest magazine or tv programme, and I took my health for granted. Looking back I’ve struggled with digestive issues all my adult life, on and off lansoprazole or some equivalent, suffering constant reflux, switching between constipation and diarrhoea, causing me to have a list on my cupboard door of what to eat and what to avoid. That seemed to help but, it wasn’t fixing the problem.

Fast-forward to my early-30s when I decided to give up meat and eventually became vegan, whilst doing daily high-intensity exercise and in a really busy, stressful job. My health slowly unravelled. Stress, both mental and physical, and not fuelling my body with the right foods took its toll.

My own lived experience impacted my immune system and hormonal health, as well as mental and physical energy. Most days I felt like I was walking around with lead boots on, I ate to try and combat fatigue, I always felt like I was getting a cold, my hair was falling out and I suffered terrible bloating after eating, with often debilitating post-food comas. My hormones were all over the place and at its worst I was suffering heart palpitations and 14-day gaps in my cycle. Yet for 2-yrs, I was told I was fine by various doctors, but I knew I wasn’t fine so I took my health into my own hands.

Now in my 40s, I’m a Nutritional Therapist and health coach, I’m feeling fitter and healthier than I’ve ever felt, despite being 10yrs older than when my journey really started; and I’m really passionate about paying that experience forward. Helping others understand the root cause of their symptoms and discovering their path to a healthier, more energised and balance life.

My mission

Many of us suffer silently with low grade health concerns or chronic issues because we put it down to ‘stress’, ‘age’, ‘hormones’, ‘being a parent’, ‘certain food don’t suit me’…

And lots of people know they need to make changes for the benefits of their health but don’t have the right support to help them on that journey, or don’t know where to start. And many people think change means extreme steps and lifelong compromises.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. It genuinely doesn’t and I want to change the tide, helping you understand how you can promote better health.

Everyone deserves to be healthy and well and my mission is to try and improve things one person at a time.
